Industrial Internet Summit: Internet+

On June 29th,the 2015 Industrial Internet Summit, jointly hosted by the Internet Society of China (ISC), China News Service and undertaken by China News Service Zhejiang branch, was held in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province.
This conference’s main theme is “New Information Technology to Promote Industrial Cooperation and Connectivity”,, with the core of Internet+manufacturing, to probe into the development of traditional manufacturing in the information and Internet age Internet and to discuss the latest application of cloud computing and big data.
He Yafei, Deputy Director of Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council, stated that during the past few years, the Internet industry has become the pride of the times and the new strength for economic development. The development of industrial Internet is a historical turning point to mark the Internet’s entering into manufacturing industry shifting from consumption and services area, triggering a new round of industrial revolution. It is an inevitable trend for global industrial all-round development and China’s strategic development.
“The sustained and rapid development of China’s Internet has become the most important social infrastructure, injecting new vitality into China during its economic transformation. The application of the Internet new technology has been creating records ever since”, said Hu Qiheng, the former Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. She also pointed out that, the combination of the mobile Internet, Internet of things, cloud computing, big data and modern manufacturing industry is the basis for the Internet+ plan and also the key point for Chinese manufacturing industry leaping into networked manufacturing industry.
Lu Wei, Secretary General of ISC, said that China is in need of industrial Internet. After 20-years development, China has transformed from consumption characterized Internet to the pattern combined with consumption industry. Internet should be highlighted in the manufacturing area, which means it may start in consuming, but must end up in manufacturing.
Dr. Richard Soley, Executive Director of the Industrial Internet Consortium, pointed out that, “There is no single winner in the Internet, it should be shared in an open platform. If the suppliers could integrate the data, using the Internet manufacturing to bring value to customers, it would bring huge profits to all stakeholders from the long-term perspective.”
Jonathan Schoo, China Director at Germany Trade & Invest (GTAI), predicted how to promote the development of modern economy, “We can imagine the picture of the future intelligent plants, there would be various kinds of technology from all areas of expertise, like the communication of machines and machinery, which benefits from the development of sensor industry.”
The China-US Industrial Internet Laboratory was launched at the conference, aiming to promote communication and cooperation in the industrial Internet between China and the United States, also to accelerating China’s traditional industries to transform and upgrade.
